ThinSwap Privacy Policy

Effective October 9, 2026

ThinSwap is developed by Austin Grace. It scans ThinClient serial numbers/hostnames and MAC addresses and saves them on your device or inserts them into a website you choose.

Camera and recognition

With permission, ThinSwap processes camera frames on your device to recognize barcodes and printed text. Your camera viewport is never transmitted or otherwise distributed anywhere. ThinSwap does not store photos, video recordings, or upload camera frames. You can revoke camera permission through the Settings app on your device and enter values manually. Only enter equipment information you are authorized to use!

Internal records

Internal mode is the default option and does not require an external website or network connection. Saved records, saved dates and the unfinished scan are saved locally on your device. An offline HTML page displays saved records. The app does not send internal records to the developer or interact with any cloud synchronization services. Application data may be included in your device backups.

External websites

External mode loads the HTTPS website you configure. The website and any sign-in providers or embedded services it uses may receive your IP address, browser information, cookies, credentials you enter and website activity under their own policies. Review the privacy policies of websites you choose. Browser cookies and website storage keep sessions available between launches, and can be cleared at any time through the ThinSwap settings menu.

ThinSwap saves your website address, display preferences and selected field's identifying metadata, including its origin, page path, selector and identifying attributes. It does not save the field's existing contents as part of the selection. The app examines the selected editor and may include supported automatic presets, page context, to locate the destination and verify insertion. This information is not transmitted to any external sources other than your selected website.

Choosing Insert makes the scan record available to the website. A website may process or synchronize its field contents immediately, before you send or submit. ThinSwap never presses Send or submits a form itself, but cannot control a website's behavior when its field changes. Saved internal history is never transferred to any remote sources.

Clipboard, analytics and tracking

Copy actions place the chosen record on the system clipboard for pasting elsewhere. The operating system's clipboard features and other apps you paste into may process that copy. ThinSwap includes no advertising, tracking SDKs, app-operated analytics or sale of scan data. Operating-system diagnostics may be shared according to your device settings. External websites have their own data practices, which ThinSwap does not control.

Retention and deletion

Saved records remain until you use Delete or Delete all in Internal mode. An unfinished record is cleared after a successful Save or Insert; Scan again in Review discards it and starts over. Mode changes do not erase internal history. You can edit the four values before saving or inserting.

Settings -> "Forget entry box" removes the selection for the configured website. Changing the website retains its earlier selection so it is available if you return. Settings -> "Clear all entry box selections" removes every saved selection. Settings -> "Clear website data" removes browser cookies and cached website storage, it does not delete saved records.

Deleting the app rather than offloading will remove its local data. Copies in backups, on the clipboard or already given to an external service are separate and must be managed there. Local deletion does not delete messages, drafts or records on a website. The developer cannot retrieve your internal records from your device.

Security

Record files use device file protection and app-private storage. Settings are stored in app preferences. Internal HTML does not load remote resources. External navigation requires HTTPS, and saved field selections are checked against their origin and page path. No storage or communication method is completely secure. Protect access to your device and follow your organization's equipment-data policies.

Updates and contact

This policy will be updated if the app's data practices change, with a new effective date. For privacy or support questions, use the developer support contact linked on ThinSwap's store listing. If you contact the developer, any information you voluntarily send is used to respond to your request and retained only as needed for that purpose and applicable obligations. You can request deletion through the same support contact. Do not send passwords or confidential equipment details.
